Examine Me, O Lord

I have lived my whole life believing and knowing that God is real, that his love is real and that he is the author of all good things in life. Yet, I myself have had times in which I was lacking the right frame of mind, the right solutions, and the right answers. It has been at these times that I have had to kneel before the cross and ask the Lord to examine me, and prove me. He has never said no, He has always been merciful.
I often took the low road instead of the high road, yes, I am saying that I failed God. It is easy to let ourselves become deceived, by pretty words, flatter and of course, sin. It was not always so much in what I was doing, but often in what I was not doing. ” Therefore, to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” James 4:17
I am very thankful that God in his mercy gave me enough of life to make the wrongs right, seek his precious will and to turn again unto the Him. No, I have never denied the Lord, I never became fearful or doubted that He was real, but I walked afar off.
I am thankful that I kept reading the Word of God, and finally returned to the table of plenty. It is never too late to change the course of your life. If you are sincere, He knows it, and if you are just wanting a way out of something not doing you any good, He knows that too.
We cannot expect the Lord to continue forever overlooking our frailties. He wants us to be stable, sincere, and walk in all of the light that He has given us.
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Knew ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” 2 Corinthians 13:5
“Examine me, O Lord, and prove me: try my reins and my heart.” Psalms 26:2 David knew just how to pray, what to say, and he humbled his heart and ask for all forgiveness in all of his sins.
I must add this entire chapter in Psalms….this is my prayer because I know that the Lord keeps a record of my goings and comings.

O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

If I say, surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
